Falling

Our big, gorgeous box elder tree is providing us with it's annual harvest - leaves! Leaves for raking into a big pile, jumping into, and eventually leaves for our compost that will help make our soil richer for planting next spring.

The box elder is loved by someone outside our family as well. We have a special squirrel that calls our tree home. I got some surprising video footage of her tenacity facing off against some birds this spring.

She had to give up that morning, but came back after the baby birds were gone and is still with us.

We love our tree for all it provides. Love the warm fall days we've had as well. Hold on a little bit longer, leaves. Winter can wait.
