Finally Seattle - Part Two

Sunday morning we dutifully got up and ready-as-we-could for church. We try to attend the LDS congregation nearest to my mom's home when we're in town, and this time got there just in time... for the choir practice, pre-Stake Conference! That means no regular church services and what they were having wouldn't start for an hour and would be followed by two non-kid-friendly hours, geesh! We listened to the choir sing Christmas hymns for a while and then loaded up to find something wholesome to do with our morning. Ended up exploring the park and marina in Des Moines, where I grew up. Soooo wish I'd had my camera! It was drizzly but pleasant and beautiful.

Then it was back to mom's to have lunch (play on the ipads) and goof off with my brother and Lainie all afternoon.

Staying at my mom's means a good movie every night as they are huge movie buffs. We watched Ghost Protocol, The Odd Life of Timothy Green, and some other action flick that was pretty good but I can't remember which right now. Seems like we took Monday & Tuesday pretty easy. Mark checked out a boiler factory in Bellevue, then we drove across the bridge and through the U District to visit Candy Cane Lane (lame). We ran an errand for my folks to help them get ready to move. Went to the mall just for a warm/dry place to walk around and have lunch. Saw Danny for a last quick visit. More books, legos, laptop and ipad games.

For our drive home, we decided to take a different (longer) route to see new sights. Specifically, we stopped in Leavenworth for an authentic bratwurst lunch.

I also attempted to get a Christmas-card-worthy image of the boys. (This is a composite of the two best...)

From here it was a long drive back to Idaho, and through a very icy Oregon mountain pass, in the dark - and fog. But we made it! And are so thankful for the time away.
