Fun Fourth

We spent all day at Grandpa & Grandma's house on the Fourth of July. Mark helped his dad build a new platform for the rope swing, out by the tree house. It was a big hit! (They also removed a bunch of dead branches.)
Besides the swing, there was swimming, soccer, the tramp, and all sorts of lawn games.
Some of my nieces got really sunburned! They remained in good spirits.
The tent was set up for some of the cousins to sleep in after watching the fireworks. It made a great playhouse before dark. The kids also played some elaborate tag/hide-and-seek game, and we watched little Reed practice crawling around on the patio. He is the happiest baby!
At sunset, the sparklers were lit.
And just when we were finishing up our meager stash and trying to find a good spot to view the fireworks from in town, Laura & Aaron arrived to join their kids after a couple of weeks apart. (Laura badly burned her legs and couldn't travel.) It was a very happy end to the evening.

  1. I rememeber days with a large family of in-laws. I loved it too. Something so cool about feeling part of a huge, intimate group.
