Snow Much Fun

Idaho's Treasure Valley (where we live) has been surprisingly snowy of late. As in over a foot one day. Makes all those Christmas songs come to life, that's for sure (Let it snow... The weather outside is frightful... )

At first we couldn't find some of our snow gear (mistakenly thought we'd left it in McCall after the last ski day in the spring) so the older boys had to wear "ghetto boots" i.e. Walmart bags over their sneakers. Thankfully the stash of goodies (boots, snow pants, etc.) was discovered up in the attic. Not that Charlie cared - the dragon costume was good enough insulation for him!

Mark has made a special effort to shovel the white icy stuff - but not just to clear the driveway and sidewalk. (Our kind neighbor boy John has helped do that for us twice!) No, Mark decided to scoop up as much snow as possible into a "mountain" for the kids to climb/sled down, what-have-you.

The next evening, he even carved some steps into it.

We've brought David outside to see the snow and touch it, briefly. He's naturally content to keep warm inside with me while the brothers go out to play (and get frozen limbs, and come in to thaw out and drip all over, dry off, and at some point start the whole process again).

 I'm not a "winter person" myself but I LOVE the joy this snow has brought my boys.
