A 10-yr-old's Favorites

Isaac cannot be simply summed up anymore, if he ever could. He is not necessarily reserved by nature, but he is calm... except when his family pushes his buttons. Or when he's playing sports. Or watching a funny show. He has an intense laugh!

Because he loves to learn and has a great memory, a lot of people assume Isaac is a serious young man, but that is not entirely true. Perhaps it is more accurate to say he is mature for his age, but there are some areas which he appears less mature, or at least more innocent. His favorite books run the gamut from Louis Lowry's The Giver to The Adventures of Tom Sawyer to Shell Silverstein poetry. His favorite show is Phineas & Ferb and favorite movie remains Despicable Me.

 

His favorite sports are soccer and skiing, but of any subject this year he has learned the most about other sports, especially American football. He still keeps a notebook full of facts and figures and imaginary things as well but it has morphed from historical to purely sports related. His favorite video games are on the iPad: FIFA 13 (soccer) and any of the Angry Birds versions.

When he grows up, Isaac would still like to be a professional soccer player, maybe, but is also leaving open the possibilities of being a soccer coach or commentator. He declares his favorite food to be apples, preferably Fuji, and favorite drink is water. (But he does love a nice glass of lemonade as well.)

He is a ready helper, often doing chores before I make a request and patiently playing with Charlie and David. He is a worthy opponent at Uno, Phase 10, or Yahtzee! He puts up with sharing a room with Sam. He is obedient but takes on the responsibility of understanding why. He wishes he had more friends and a better soccer league, but is content to read books and play with brothers most of the day every day. We are so grateful and proud to have him in our lives.
