All-Star Soccer

I mentioned before that Mark took it upon himself to extend the soccer season by arranging a couple of games against teams in other leagues. He and a PCRD coach from Payette co-coached our rag-tag "all-star" team.
Both the practices and the games were more fun than during regular season, purely because everyone on the team really wanted to be playing soccer, were motivated to improve, and were highly competitive. This didn't give us any advantage over the teams we played - who were both in competitive leagues (unlike simple county rec) - but we did pull off just one loss and one win.
Another benefit to the extended season was that my parents (Grandma and Grandpa Golden) were in town to visit during the last game and finally got to watch Isaac play. Grandma kept David warm from the cold wind blowing during the first half of the game.
Charlie was fabulously entertained by one of the younger sons of the coach of the opposing team, our friends David & Shanda Palsulich. We went back to their home after the game (just my family and theirs) and had pizza and visited (the kids played wii) until bedtime. Definitely a great way to end it.
