Startin' the Garden
Mark has been working hard to make the strip of property next to the driveway suitable for a garden (as well as tilling last year's garden space with our compost). Saturday, after Isaac's soccer game, he got a last load of soil & manure and I bought some starts & seeds, so we finally got the garden started. The boys are all big fans of digging and loved helping us plant. We have strawberries, tomatoes, snap peas, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, and Sam's request: watermelon). Now we've just got to (somehow!) keep Charlie out of all of the newly planted patches that were once a yard of giant dirt free-for-alls.

Ooh! Gardens! I still need to get mine started! Have you ever grown brocoli? Do you know that it is enormous? The plant before the veggetable comes is huge. Mine took all the sun from my carrots as I never imagined the amound of space it needed. Just a tip, if you needed it!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with t he landscaping!
Wow...Looks amazing...we need you guys to come out and help us with our landscaping! Unfortunately, gardening skills didn't run in my family...but dream of mine...getting there slowly. ;)
ReplyDeleteGood luck with Charlie, he has already shown a propensity for going after planting projects. :)
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see all that you have done to the yard. Love you.
